Adam was born in Orton, Westmoreland in c.1528, but was later of London.  He was a Freeman of Bassitshaw Ward in 1549 and of Plaistow in Essex.

Adam married Joan Atkyns at St Mary Magdalene on 8^th November 1551. Joan was the daughter of William Atkyns.

Adam and Joan had 9 children all baptised at St Gregory’s, London:

Thomas Bland born in 1558 and died on 1618.

Richard  Bland baptised on 24^th January 1562.

John Blande buried on 12^th January 1564.

Francis Blande buried on 17^th March 1566.

William Bland baptised on 5^th April 1566 a Gentleman of London, He married Judith Thomas Wood and died in 1586.

Gregory Bland baptised on 22^nd April 1567. In the will of his younger brother, John Bland, of Sythe Lane, London, Grocer, he is mentioned with severity and is excluded from any participation in John’s bequests. He left two daughters:

Fances Bland who was married at nearly 50 to John Coggan of Charles-City County, Virginia, where she died, without issue, in 1677 and was buried at Westover, Virginia.

Jane Bold who married Edward Bland, her cousin in Virginia.

Jasper Bland born in 1568 and buried on 10^th December 1596.

Mary Bland baptised on 22^nd January 1569.

John Bland baptised on 28^th September 1572. He married Susan Deblere.

Adam died in May 1594 and was buried at Bnd’s Gill Hamlet, Sedborough, Yorkshire.

Joan was buried at St Gregory’s on 10^th July 1596.
