Allesandro Torriano
Son of Ferdinando Torriano de Tassis and father of George Torriano
Allesandro, later know as Alexander, was born c. 1570 in Mailand, Lombardy, Italy. He was the son of Ferdinando Torriano de Tassis who, in 1572, was Postmaster to the Emperor of Venice.
Alexander was an Italian Priest who converted to Protestantism and fled to Geneva, Switzerland, where he is said to have married. He came to England about 1620 and in that year was Chaplin of the Italian Church in the Savoy, London. Also his son, George, was born in London in that year.
Alexander had at least 3 children:
Giovani Torriano born in 1609 probably in Switzerland and died in 1666 in England
George Torriano baptised on 20th November 1620 at St Nicholas Acons, London.
John Torriano born 1626 in London and remained a bachelor
Dorothy Torriano born in 1637 in London. In 1667 she married Charles Proby in Huntingdon, Huntingdonshire
Alexander was buried in Cripplegate in 1638.
