Son of John Phillip and Jane Downing, father of Jane Arundel Phillip and husband of Maria Bolt Bishop
Arundel was baptised at Bow (now Mint Meeting) George's Meeting House-Presbyterian, Exeter, Devon on 12th April 1744.
He married Maria Bolt Bishop on 31st January 1776 at St Mary Major, Exeter, Devon.
In the Exeter Roll of Freemen 1782 - 1789 and the Mayors Memorandum Books 1776 - 1785 and 1785 - 1794, Arundel appears as having apprentices at Holt Trinity, Fuller.
Arundel and Maria had the following children all baptised at Bow (now Mint Meeting) George's Meeting House-Presbyterian, Exeter, Devon:

Charlotte Phillip 17th February 1778
Jane Arundel Phillip 28th July 1779
John Arundel Phillip 4th August 1780
