James Aitken
Son of Thomas Aitken, father of George Stannage Aitken and husband of Mary Stannage

James was born c.1862. James married Mary Stannage at St Mark’s Parish Church, Newtownards, County Down on 12th September 1891. They were then 29 and 24 respectively. They both lived in Corry Quarter of Newtownards and were both weavers – James was the son of Thomas Aiken. Witnesses at the wedding were a George Stannage and Henry Gray. Mary was born on 24th February 1867 in Newtownards the daughter of Thomas Stannage and Frances Craige, who married on 30th July 1853
James and Mary had at least one son
George Stannage Aiken born on 29th August 1892
At the time of the birth of their son, the family was living at Corry’s Deed, Newtownards and James occupation was still that of a Weaver.
James was buried in the family burial plot at Dundonald Cemetery in 1935 (see note on his son)
