Jane Arundel Phillip

 

Daughter of Arundel Phillip and Maria Bolt Bishop, mother of Dr William Henry Hugo and wife of Dr Thomas Hugo

Jane was baptised at Bow (now Mint Meeting) George's Meeting House-Presbyterian, Exeter, Devon on 28th July 1779,

 

She married Dr Thomas Hugo on 17th June 1806 in Heavitree, Exeter, Devon

 

Jane died in Crediton, Devon, on 5th October 1843 of "paralysis".  Jane predeceased her husband by 4 months - see Appendix P13.1 for a copy of Jane's death certificate.  Jane was buried at Holy Cross Church, Crediton on 13th October 1843, aged 64. Her death was also recorded in The Gentleman's Magazine for 1843 as "Oct 6th, Jane Arundel, wife of Thomas Hugo, esq of Crediton and youngest daughter of the late Arundel Philips, esq of Exeter".

 

Jane's will was dated 2nd October 1833. She left her Estate to her five surviving children and mentioned her mother, Mary Bolt Philips.  The will was proved on 31st January 1844.
