John de Mowbray 2nd Baron

 

Son of Roger de Mowbray, 1st Baron Mowbray, father of John de Mowbray 3rd Baron and husband of Aliva de Braose

John was born on 4th September 1286 served in the Scottish wars of Edward I. The baron held such offices as Sheriff of Yorkshire, Governor of the city of York, a warden of the Scottish marches, governor of Malton and Scarborough Castles.d. 23 Mar 1321

He took part in the rebellion of Thomas, Earl of Lancaster. He was captured at the battle of Boroughbridge and subsequently hanged at York.

John de Mowbray married Aliva de Braose, (b. 1291 d. ca 1331), daughter of William de Braose, Lord Braose of Gower. They had at least two sons:

John de Mowbray 3rd Baron born on 29th  November 1310 in Yorkshire, England

Alexander de Mowbray born c 1314 and died c 1391

John died on 23rd March 1321
