Pierre Reneu

 

 

Son of Pierre and Suzanne Reneu, father of Elizabeth Reneu and husband of Elizabeth Cox

 

Pierre was born in Bordeaux, Gironde, France in 1654. By order of Parliament in London Pierre was naturalised and became an English citizen in March 1677. The Reneu Family were of Huguenot descent.

 

Pierre married Elizabeth Cox on 30th September 1679 at St Martin, Dulwich, London.  Elizabeth was the daughter of John Cox and she was born in 1662. The Marriage Licence prior to marriage reads “1 September 1679 Peter Reneu, of St Bartholomew, Exchange, London, Merchant, Bachelor, about 32, & Elizabeth Cox, of St Michael's, Crooked Lane, London, Spinster, about 17, with consent of her father John Cox, of same, Merchant; at St Michael's aforesaid”

 

Pierre was a Merchant in Commerce and a Director of the Bank of England.

 

Pierre and Elizabeth had at least 12 children:

 

Elizabeth Reneu born on 14th December 1680 in Putney, Surrey and baptised on 3rd January 1681. She married Nathaniel Torriano on 27th October  1699. Elizabeth died on 30th June 1757.

 

John Reneu born on  8th January 1682 and baptised on 10th January 1682 at St Swithin Stone, London.

 

George Reneu born on  14th March 1683 and baptised on 16th March 1683 at St Swithin Stone, London.

 

David Reneu born in 1686 in Putney, London. He married Sarah before 1703. He died on 18th August 1743.

 

Susannah Reneu born on 24th February 1686 and baptised on 10th March 1686 at St Swithin Stone, London. She died on 16th October 1689.

 

Anne Reneu born on  20th December 1687 and baptised on 6th January 1688 at St Swithin Stone, London. She married Richard Croke on 5th June 1711.

 

William Reneu born on  4th January 1689 and baptised on 19th June 1689 at St Swithin Stone, London. William was admitted a “pensioner” at Jesus College, Cambridge, on 26th June 1705. He was a Scholar in 1707; graduated BA in 1708/09; MA in 1712 and Fellow 1711/12. He was ordained Deacon in the London Diocese on 19th December 1714 and Priest on 1st January 1717/18. He was Vicar of Comberton, Cambridgeshire from 1719 – 1721 in which year he died.

Margarett Reneu born in 1696 in London.

 

 

Rebecca Reneu born in 1697 in Putney, London and died on 15th November 1783.

 

Sarah Reneu born in 1699 in London and died on 14th September 1775.

 

Henrietta Reneu born on 13th July 1704 and baptised on 19th July 1704 at St Swithin Stone, London. She married David Camarque on 25th January 1731 at St Martin Outwhich, London. She died on 4th December 1767.

 

On 11th August 1692 Daniel Hays, of St Stephen, Colman Street, London, Merchant, Bachelor, about 30, & Susan Delbose, of St Peter le Poore, London, Spinster, about 18, with consent of her mother, her father beyond sea; alleged by Peter Reneu, of St Swithin's, London, Merchant; at St Peter le Poore.

 

Pierre died before1730 and Elizabeth died in 1733.
