Saint Begga also Begue was born c. 615 She was the daughter of Pepin of Landen, mayor of the palace of Austrasia, and his wife Itta. On the death of her husband, she took the veil, founded several churches, and built a convent at Andenne on the Meuse River (Andenne sur Meuse) where she spent the rest of her days as abbess.
She married Ansegisel, son of Saint Arnulf, bishop of Metz and his wife Saint Doda. He served King Sigbert III of Austrasia from 634 until 656 as a Duke, a military leader. He was killed sometime before 679, slain in a feud by his enemy Gundewin
Begga and Ansegisel had three children:
Martin of Laon
Clotilda of Heristal, who was married to Theuderic III of the Franks
Begga died on 17th December 17, 693.
