William Temple

Son of George Temple, father of William Temple and husband of Anna Smithe

William was apprenticed for 7 years to his father, George Temple, as a Tallow Chandler from 27^th October 1617; it was normal at that time to start an apprenticeship between the ages of 16 and 19.

Having completed his apprenticeship, William was admitted to the Freedom of the Borough on 21^st January 1624/25. William would have been a younger son since the eldest son would have been admitted by birthright.

On 24^th May 1627, William married Anna Smithe in Berwick-upon-Tweed and they had at least six children, all baptised in Berwick

Marke Temple baptised on 28^th June 1629

Anna Temple baptised on 7^th August 1631

Isabella Temple baptised on 7^th February 1632/33

John Temple baptised on 18^th March 1634/35

Margaret Temple   baptised on 19^th December 1636 and buried on 14^th February 1637/38

William Temple, burgas, was buried on 23^rd September 1638.
