William Temple

 

Son of George Temple, father of William Temple and husband of Anna Smithe

 

William was apprenticed for 7 years to his father, George Temple, as a Tallow Chandler from 27th October 1617; it was normal at that time to start an apprenticeship between the ages of 16 and 19.

 

Having completed his apprenticeship, William was admitted to the Freedom of the Borough on 21st January 1624/25. William would have been a younger son since the eldest son would have been admitted by birthright.

 

On 24th May 1627, William married Anna Smithe in Berwick-upon-Tweed and they had at least six children, all baptised in Berwick

Marke Temple baptised on 28th June 1629

 

Anna Temple baptised on 7th August 1631

 

Isabella Temple baptised on 7th February 1632/33

 

John Temple baptised on 18th March 1634/35

 

Margaret Temple   baptised on 19th December 1636 and buried on 14th February 1637/38

 

William Temple, burgas, was buried on 23rd September 1638.
